This past spring break I had the opportunity to travel to Costa Rica with an organization at Texas State called Young Life. Young Life is a Christian based organization and their mission is to attract non- believers towards the gospel. When I first started getting involved with young life in the beginning of my freshman year I found community instantly, and decided it would be an awesome adventure to get to travel to Cost Rica with such an amazing group of people!( and boy was I right) Considering this was my first mission trip I was not sure how it was going to play out, but it ended up being even more than I ever expected! Our team stayed in a dormitory in the middle of a town named San Jose. San Joes is the capital of Costa Rica and is extremely impoverished in many areas. Our mission was to serve the church of Embajada Christiana and do anything they needed us to do. At the end of our weeks stay, we dug three trenches around the church so the rain would not flood the yard of the church, and built a fence around the churches parameter. While we were working the people of Costa Rica were very curious as to what we were doing and this drew a lot of attention to the church. Throughout the day, the people of Costa Rica would approach the team and play soccer with us, expose us to their culture, and more than anything love on us. WE WERE OVERJOYED! (~: The love that radiated out of the Costa Ricans was truly inspirational, even when having nothing they seemed to be the happiest people! The girl in the picture is named Camila, and let me tell you she loved to jump rope!! Her and I probably spent 2 hours jumping and laughing together, my heart was never fuller in my life than at this moment. The people of Costa Rica changed my life more than imaginable ,and I would do anything to relive every moment of my trip!!
We love when our sisters give back and spread love!! Thank you Sydney for having a big heart and such a sweet sweet soul!! We love you!!
